The policy and resourcing decision will determine the future use of telehealth in relation to the COVID-19 pandemic. Flinders University conducted a survey of health professionals in order to learn about their experiences using telehealth for COVID-19. Telehealth services, which allow physicians and healthcare professionals to connect with patients via the telephone or through the internet, were encouraged in Australia during the beginning stages of the disease. This was done to lower the chance of transmission. This particular service is beneficial to rural and remote areas, where access to physical medicine services might be difficult.

Flinders University researchers Dr Paul Ward Dr. Hailay Absrha Geosesew , Prof. Anthony Maeder Professor Hailay Absrha Gesesew and Dr Alan Taylor conducted a survey of 91 health professionals to evaluate their experiences using the use of telehealth. The positives of legalizing the use of telehealth as a mode of service and a greater confidence in its service and increased financial and human resources are all acknowledged by clinicians.

"While many doctors believe that the switch to Telehealth has been forced by the pandemic," Dr Alan Taylor of Flinders University. He is an active member and principal writer of the Australian Telehealth Society Committee.

Dr. Taylor stated it was hard to predict how telehealth would be maintained following the outbreak. The future funding of telehealth services is also a concern because of the complex mix of policies and clinical procedures. Dr. Alan Taylor led a project which developed an international standard in telehealth services. Dr Taylor stated that international standards are an important part of world trade in goods, services, and with the increasing use of telehealth services, it is crucial to maintain the quality of telehealth services subject to ISO/TR 11633-2:2021 Health informatics-Information security management for remote maintenance of medical devices and medical information systems. These guidelines will be extremely useful for healthcare providers such as primary care physicians who are looking to employ risk management in order to set guidelines for quality standards and establish protocols for the operation of the telehealth service.
